Bringing Trauma Model Therapy to You
The Colin A. Ross Institute was formed in 1995 to further the understanding of psychological trauma and its consequences by providing educational services, research, and clinical treatment of trauma based disorders. Dr. Ross has been offering Trauma Model Therapy (TMT) Certification for over two decades. We are just modernizing his training system so that more clinicians can engage with certification. You can get trained in all levels at once, or start with Level 1 to see if the modality is for you. The Ross Institute is now offering 3 levels that enable you to achieve TMT Certification and a path to become a TMT consultant so that you can train and supervise others.

Level 1
Level 1 training is focused on introducing you to the model, the 5 Principles of TMT, helping you learn how to conceptualize TMT, how to diagnose properly, and how to become competent in detecting and working with complex trauma & dissociation. You will have a chance to watch multiple role plays with Dr. Ross during this training.

Level 2
Level 2 training will focus on general strategies you as a therapist need to know and employ in order to do the most effective work with any type of client who has experienced trauma. We will immerse you in the TMT Mindset and cover ethics. You will watch new role plays with Dr. Ross. We will also cover how to pair TMT with well-known modalities like EMDR, CPT & DBT.

Level 3
In the Level 3 training, we go into great detail about tangible activities you can do with clients who experience complex PTSD, dissociation, or who have DID. This will include direction on how to work with complicated cases and DID parts/alters or DID systems. You will watch more role plays with Dr. Ross. We will also cover how to pair TMT with well-known modalities like TF-CBT, Ego States & IFS.

Dr. Colin Ross, MD
Dr. Ross is the founder of The Ross Institute for Psychological Trauma and the creator of Trauma Model Therapy. Dr. Ross has authored 38 books and over 290 professional papers, and has reviewed for numerous professional journals and grant agencies. He is a past President of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation and also a recipient of ISSTD's Lifetime Achievement Award.

AshleyDawn has been a clinician for over a decade and has a passion for empowering and teaching mental health practitioners to become more competent in working with complex trauma, dissociation and Dissociative Identity Disorder. AshleyDawn joins Dr. Ross in the project of helping more clinicians get trained in Trauma Model Therapy.

Why
is
TMT training virtual?
Dr. Ross’s original certification process was a correspondence course. We decided on a virtual, on-demand training because we wanted to standardize the teaching process so we can be sure that every Trauma Model Therapy (TMT) clinician is taught the same thing.
Why
are
there
3 levels?
Dr. Ross’s theory is packed with so many details, and so we decided to make the 3 levels
on-demand so that people can take the time to really digest all of the material. The training is setup so that each lesson is 15-60 minutes with short quizzes after each lesson and role plays throughout.
Will there be opportunities for connection?
The virtual TMT consultation groups are already awesome! Our goal within the 1-2 years is to have TMT Retreats where you can join other TMT therapists, do practicals and earn CEs in person. Those retreats will only be available to people who have engaged in the foundational, virtual training.
What

come
next?
After all 3 levels are live, we are then going to begin working on the Trauma Model Therapy website which will be a place to bring TMT therapists together by geographic location and create a consumer education wing for TMT referrals.
